Jumbo Jet
Few aircraft match the reach and interior scale of a jumbo jet, where long-haul performance meets fully customized space for work, rest, and group coordination.
Intended for Crowds, Claimed by the Few
The first wide-body commercial jets entered service in 1970 and immediately broke every assumption about what a passenger aircraft could be. Airlines ordered them by the dozen before routes were even confirmed. The double-deck fuselage, the sheer audacity of cramming 400 people into a single tube, was an engineering gamble that rewired global aviation. What nobody anticipated was that within a decade, operators would start stripping those 400 seats out entirely.
The VIP wide-body conversion market grew quietly through the 1980s alongside the rise of petrostates and entertainment conglomerates with payrolls large enough to fill a hotel but agendas too compressed for commercial terminals. A Saudi prince didn’t want a cabin for 400, he wanted a bedroom, a conference room, a dining salon, and a private office cruising at 35,000 feet. Manufacturers obliged. Some double-decker configurations grew so cavernous that one reportedly included a dedicated parking space for a full-size luxury vehicle.
Today, a jumbo jet charter occupies a category entirely its own. NFL franchises flying 80-man rosters out of Chicago, concert tours moving production crews of 200 from Miami to Tokyo, and heads of state conducting bilateral meetings at altitude, these are the clients that fill wide-body cabins. No scheduled airline touches this market. It operates on its own terms, on its own timeline.
Airbus
The Airbus Corporate Jet series is based on commercial Airbus platforms reconfigured into VIP aircraft, from ACJ narrowbody models to widebody options such as the A380 VIP, ACJ350, and ACJ330neo.
Boeing Business Jet
The Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) series is derived from Boeing’s commercial platforms, including the 737, 777, and 787, modified for private use with extended range and fully customized interiors.
CRJ 1000
The CRJ 1000 is a stretched regional jet based on Bombardier’s CRJ platform, featuring a length of approximately 128 feet, a typical cruise speed near Mach 0.82, and a range of around 1,600 nautical miles, later adapted into VIP configurations for private group travel.
Dornier 328 – Envoy 3
The Dornier 328 is a turboprop-based regional airliner later adapted into VIP configurations such as the Envoy 3, combining short-field capability with pressurized cabin performance.
Lineage 1000
The Lineage 1000 is based on the Embraer 190 regional jet platform, reconfigured into a VIP aircraft with a range of approximately 4,600 nautical miles and a multi-zone cabin layout designed for long-haul operations.
Life Inside a Flying Estate
A jumbo jet rental like this requires advance planning, often weeks or months ahead, with layouts customized based on passenger count, flight duration, and onboard requirements. So, we work with operators experienced in wide-body VIP configurations, ensuring compliance, crew readiness, and proper setup for each mission.
- Private stateroom suites: floor-to-ceiling partitioned bedrooms with queen or king beds, blackout panels, and individual climate control; on double-deck VIP configurations, the upper level often converts entirely into a private residence separate from staff and guests below
- Boardroom and conference suite: a dedicated meeting room with a long table, hardwired connectivity, projection capability, and soundproofing substantial enough to hold sensitive conversations at cruising altitude.
- Lounge and social cabin: a full bar, wraparound seating, and enough standing room to hold a reception mid-flight; entertainment touring clients flying out of Las Vegas frequently use this zone for rehearsals and team briefings en route.
- Medical bay: standard on head-of-state configurations, these dedicated compartments carry surgical-grade equipment and travel with a physician on board; not an upgrade, a baseline requirement for certain clients.
The aircraft itself covers an international range that smaller platforms can’t reach, nonstop, with a full complement of passengers and their luggage. At this scale, the jet isn’t a means of getting somewhere. It is somewhere.
