4 Places You Have to See in South America

South America is a vast continent that teems with impenetrable jungles, breathtaking peaks, and ancient civilization; it’s the perfect destination for any adventure traveler. This Latin continent practically has everything you could have on your ultimate bucket list: colonial towns, volcanoes, deep culture and tradition, and some of the friendliest people on the planet. Our Jet Charter Service has compiled a short list of some of the best sites in South America to help you get started on your next epic adventure. Let’s have a quick look at what you can expect if you decide to visit.

Angel Falls in Venezuela

Also known as ‘Salto Angel’ or ‘Kerepakupai’ by native South Americans, this is one of the most breathtaking, yet humbling sites in the world. The Angel Falls are located in the Canaima National Park and stands at 979 meters tall (think more than half a mile of waterfall, wow!); this is the highest waterfall in the world. If you want to get there, however, you have to take a plane to Canaima because there is no way to reach there using a vehicle. So take the over-flight for an aerial view and you will be assured of a truly mind-blowing experience.

Machu Picchu in Perú

The hallowed city of Machu Picchu was built in the early 15th century and was later left unoccupied by its original inhabitants; the Incan Empire. This is arguably the most proeminent archeological site in South America, and possibly even the whole world. Machu Picchu’s enormous walls and mysterious history has attracted tourists and scientists from all over the globe. To get there, you have to first get to Cusco, a former Spanish colonial city in which is an equally pleasant experience due to its ancient architecture and indigenous culture.

Galapagos Islands in Ecuador

The Galapagos Islands are located roughly 600 miles off Ecuador’s coast and offer what are possibly the best up-close interactions with wildlife. Here you will get to snorkel with turtles and sea lions, watch the mating practices of the blue-footed booby, and barren lava field, among dozens of other fun and interactive activities. This is the paradise for nature lovers; it’s one of the few places on earth where Mother Nature remains uninterrupted by human influence. Since this un-interruption is not likely to last forever, we recommend that you head on down there ASAP.

Rio de Janeiro

No trip to South America could be complete without visiting one of its most famous cities. With its beautiful landscapes and world-famous landmarks such as ‘Christ the Redeemer’ that stands on top of the Corcovado Mountain, the Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, and the Sugarloaf Mountain, Rio is undoubtedly a must-visit place in South America. It has it all.
