The Citation XLS Gen2 and its predecessors, Excel, XLS and XLS+ have been described as “workhouses” for short-range charter operations since production started in 2000 with Excel. The first delivery of the XLS+ was in 2008 and the entire Excel / XLS family of jets contains more than 608 aircraft in service. The XLS+ has a stand-up cabin and has the ability to land on short runways. The XLS+ is the first real makeover of the Excel / XLS in 2006. A revised nose design, avionics, displays, engines and engine controls were part of the makeover for the XLS+ from its predecessors. The XLS+ manfactured about 300 aircraft before it ceased production in 2021 and is followed by the XLS Gen2.
